Anniversary edition of InterClassics & TopMobiel draws nearly 22,000 visitors to MECC Maastricht

The anniversary edition of the biggest classic car event in the Benelux was held last weekend from 11 to 13 January at MECC Maastricht. The event drew 21,928 visitors to Maastricht to admire unique and exclusive classics presented by 300 exhibitors in the 30,000 m2 exhibition space.  This was an increase of over 14% compared to the 2012 edition, and a record in the history of InterClassics & TopMobiel. Never before had the event drawn more than 20,000 visitors!

InterClassics & TopMobiel celebrated its 20th anniversary with the themes ‘100 Years of Aston Martin’ and ‘Bugatti Grand Prix Cars’. The 2013 edition boasted a myriad of exclusive classics. In collaboration with organisations such as the Aston Martin Owners Club Holland, the event presented the history of Aston Martin through 30 exclusive models including the A3, the Ulster, the Atom, the DB2 and the DB5. The Bugatti Type 35 and the only surviving Bugatti Type 32 ‘Tank’ were also on display in a separate show pavilion exclusively reserved for the Bugatti Grand Prix Cars theme.

A TopMobiel Preview night was held on the Thursday evening before the show. During this very special evening, guests enjoyed a range of culinary delights in the company of the most exclusive models from the 100-year history of Aston Martin. This culinary journey was led by GaultMillau Chef of the Year winner Paul van de Bunt in collaboration with Maison van den Boer. Together with Xavier Maassen, the TopMobiel Preview Night supported Stichting ALS Nederland (the Dutch ALS Foundation) by raising over €35,000 in a charity auction.

The organisers, the visitors and the 300-plus exhibitors were all enthusiastic about the high-quality and varied cars, the dual themes, the jovial atmosphere and the unprecedented press coverage.

The next InterClassics & TopMobiel event will be held from Friday 17 through to Sunday 19 January 2014 at MECC Maastricht.
