Unique Bentley at InterClassics Maastricht

MAASTRICHT, 14 December 2015 – The Louwman Museum in The Hague is making the Bentley 4 ½ litre Le Mans available on loan to InterClassics Maastricht. Made by the famous British brand, this sports car won the 24-hour Le Mans race in 1928. In addition to this unique model and in cooperation with De Mascotte, the association of Bentley and Rolls Royce owners, visitors will be treated to an extensive visual presentation of the theme ‘British Royals: Bentley & Rolls Royce’. InterClassics Maastricht will be held from 14 through 17 January 2016 at MECC Maastricht.

Bentley 4 ½ Litre Le Mans
From its very inception, Bentley participated in races to generate publicity for the brand and to put these sports cars to the ultimate test. Wins in the 24-hour race in Le Mans led to dramatic improvements in the brand’s reputation. In 1928, the 4 1/2 litre car won this race. The car also broke a speed record on the race track at Brooklands, achieving a top speed of 222.03 km/hour. A total of 720 of the 4 1/2 Litre models were manufactured, 44 of which had the supercharger built in, also referred to as the ‘Bentley Blower’. Ronald Kooyman, Managing Director of the Louwman Museum: ‘InterClassics Maastricht is a professional, high-quality exhibition that has more than earned its spurs. The Louwman Museum is therefore pleased to make the 4 1/2 Litre available within the context of the British Royals theme.’

100 years of BMW
Apart from the ‘British Royals: Bentley & Rolls Royce’ exhibit, 100 years of BMW is the main theme. During the exhibition, this theme will be presented via an exclusive collection of no fewer than 30 classic BMWs.

InterClassics Maastricht will be held from Thursday, 14 through Sunday, 17 January 2016 at MECC Maastricht. The classic car exhibition traditionally attracts many buyers, enthusiasts and daytrippers. Admission tickets are available for purchase online at a discount. Free entrance for children aged 12 and under. For further information, visit: www.interclassicsmaastricht.nl
