InterClassics Maastricht wins second prize at International Historic Motoring Awards in London

InterClassics Maastricht won second prize during the awards ceremony at the Historic Motoring Awards yesterday in London, in the ‘motoring event of the year’ category. The Benelux’s premier classic car show for over 25 years, this was the first year that InterClassics Maastricht was nominated for this award. Each year, various awards are presented to the most notable people, events and companies active in the classic-car world in Europe, Asia, the United States and Australia. First place for ‘motoring event of the year 2018’ went to Retro Classics Stuttgart. The jury consisted of an international group of judges and experts from Octane Magazine UK, each of whom is an authority on the classic-car world.

During a prestigious gala evening on 25 October, held this year at the Sheraton Grand London Park Lane Hotel, the eighth edition of this event featured various awards presented in 19 categories. InterClassics Maastricht was one of the five classic car events to be nominated, competing against Concours of Elegance, Classic Nostalgia at Shelsley Walsh, The Festival of the Unexceptional and Retro Classics Stuttgart in the ‘motoring event of the year’ category. Winners of previous events include Vintage Revival Montlhéry in 2017 and Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance in 2016.

Erik Panis, InterClassics Manager: ‘We consider winning second place for this prestigious international award to be the crowning glory of our work, and a great conclusion to the 25th anniversary of InterClassics Maastricht that we were proud to celebrate last January. I am so proud of the fact that as a team, together with our exhibitors, we are able to put on such a fantastic exhibition which has now also garnered international accolades.”

The 26th edition of InterClassics Maastricht will be held at MECC Maastricht from Thursday, 10 through Sunday, 13 January 2019. The classic car trade exhibition traditionally attracts many buyers and enthusiasts. With 35,000 m2 of exhibition floor space for 300 exhibitors and more than 800 classic cars on display, InterClassics Maastricht is the largest classic-car event in the Benelux.
