Classic car belonging to legendary pop star Phil Collins auctioned during InterClassics Maastricht

British auction house Coys will be coming to InterClassics Maastricht for the sixth time. InterClassics Maastricht will be held from 10 through 13 January 2019 at MECC Maastricht. Under the moniker ‘Grandes Marques’, some 100 items will be auctioned on Friday, the 11th and Saturday, the 12th of January, making it the largest auction in the 26-year history of InterClassics. The items will be auctioned in price categories ranging from high to low, making the auction interesting for every budget. One of the classics on the auction block will be the Austin 35 which was once the personal property of legendary pop star Phil Collins. According to Coys, this 1959 Austin has an estimated value between €7,000 and €10,000.

A rare 1958 Facel Vega Excellence, newly delivered to the iconic American film star Ava Gardner will also be auctioned. This ‘Excellence’ is one of the ten ‘first series’ built, and was delivered straight from the factory to Ava Gardner in September of 1958, including Chrysler’s high-performance 6.4-litre ‘Hemi’ V8 under the bonnet. The car cost nearly four million French francs at the time, enough to buy four Citroën DS models. Coys estimates that the Facel will fetch between €150,000 and €180,000. The auction items may be admired starting Thursday, 10 January during the exhibition.

InterClassics Maastricht will be held from Thursday, 10 through Sunday, 13 January 2019 at MECC Maastricht. The classic car trade exhibition traditionally attracts many buyers and enthusiasts. With 35,000 m2 of exhibition floor space for 300 exhibitors and more than 800 classic cars on display, InterClassics Maastricht is the largest classic-car event in the Benelux.
